  The Egyptian Tortoise is one of the smallest turtles in the world and is close to extinction. Many people used to hunt the tortoise because of its shell and it brains. Both were used in medicine that civilization used to use. Now there is a law that states that no one could hunt or kill the animal. It is also illegal to have the Egyptian Turtle as a pet in the United States of America. The Egyptian Tortoise has no predators, but they have lost thier natural habitat. They lost them to people. Workers build houses and other buildings on top of where the Egyptian Tortoise lives.  These are just some of the reasons for the Egyptian Tortoises endangerment. 
    The Egyptian Tortoise only eats leaves and other plants. The Egyptian Tortoise does not eat meat. There is a myth that says if an Egyptian Tortoise eats meat it will die very quick.
